Membership in the Benefit & Welfare Association is open to all permanent employees of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
If you are uncertain about your membership status, just check your pay stub for a deduction under Code EO 109, titled FIRE BENEFIT in the amount of $4.88 per pay period ($9.76 PER MONTH) When we went to the new pay system of taking deductions twice a month, the old monthly fee of $9.75 was not evenly divisible by 2, so the Auditor Controller rounded up and now takes $4.88 per pay period or $9.76 per month.
If that deduction appears, then you are already a member and you should be receiving Straight Streams magazine. If you are a member but not receiving the magazine, please send an email to editor@straightstreams.com and give us your current mailing address. Please be sure to include your employee number when corresponding about membership issues.
CANCELING YOUR MEMBERSHIP
Although we certainly don't like to see members leave us, if you have a need to cancel your membership, just download the form below and follow the instructions on the form for canceling. If you are retiring, do not use this procedure. You will be automatically converted to retired status and no longer pay dues, but will retain membership privileges. If you cancel your membership, you will loose those privileges.
